Southeast Region Fishing Information

Idaho Fishing - Thu, 07/17/2008 - 16:56
Little has changed, and the fishing is excellent in the Southeast Region. But in many areas fishing is best in the cooler parts of the day, early and late.

The Upper Blackfoot River opened for catch-and-release fishing for cutthroat trout on July 1. The cutthroat spawning run out of the reservoir was about 540 cutthroat trout – that’s the biggest run since 2003 and should provide for some exciting fishing this year. The river is running high and cloudy.

Salmon Region Fishing Information

Idaho Fishing - Thu, 07/17/2008 - 16:54
The summer temperatures have turned the fishing on near Challis. The trout fishing at Mosquito Flats Reservoir and Bayhorse Lake has slowed a little bit because the fish are going deeper with the warmer weather; however worms and bobbers are working well. Fly fishing is really coming on and as the water drops, it keeps getting better. Mackay Reservoir is good for trolling deep.

Trout Regulations Modified, Officers Selected at Fish & Boat

Pennsylvania Fishing - Wed, 07/16/2008 - 17:01
Harrisburg, PA, 7/16/08 – At its summer quarterly meeting yesterday, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) voted to allow anglers to fish in lakes and ponds approved as year-round trout waters without possessing a trout/salmon permit, as long as anglers are not fishing for trout or salmon. Commissioners also voted to open 31 additional approved trout waters to year-round fishing. The changes to the lake and pond regulations were made after several individuals submitted public comments noting that anglers often fish these waters for species other than trout. Both changes will take effect Jan. 1, 2009.
