USDA Wildlife Services killed three wolves from the Elevation Mountain pack June 27 near Helmville, completing the lethal control action initiated this spring after wolves killed livestock in the area.

This family favorite has been making a splash in the Helena area for many years. To enter the regatta participants must build a boat, but these are no ordinary boats. While there are no size restrictions, the boats must be made of corrugated cardboard and pass a boat inspection before racing.

Comments Sought on Clark Fork River Property Acquisition Near Missoula
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is seeking public comment on a proposal to acquire approximately 12 acres of land along the Clark Fork River eight miles northwest of Missoula.
The property consists of two tracts of land. Tract one, located on the west side of the Clark Fork adjacent to the existing Deep Creek Fishing Access Site (FAS), is approximately four acres, and would be donated to FWP. This site would provide additional walk-in access from Deep Creek.

FWP Commission Closes Portion Of Yellowstone River Near Livingston To All Recreation
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commissioners today closed about a 12-mile stretch of the Yellowstone River between Carter’s Bridge Fishing Access Site, south of Livingston, and the Highway 89 Bridge Fishing Access Site, north of Livingston, to all recreational activity due to flood conditions on the river.

Boating class offered June 26 in Billings
BILLINGS — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will offer a boating education class on Thursday evening, June 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the FWP office in Billings, 2300 Lake Elmo Drive.
The class will include an overview of boating safety, equipment requirements and the rules of safe operation. Participants must pre-register and read the boating manual prior to the class.

Wolf killed near White Sulphur Springs
A Meagher County rancher shot and killed a lone wolf early Wednesday that was threatening his cattle.
The incident occurred about 6 a.m. on private land about 20 miles northwest of White Sulphur Springs.

Final decisions will also be made on the final 2008 lion quotas; the 2009 moose, sheep, goat, deer and elk license auction rules; the donation of additional land adjacent to the Bearmouth fishing access site about 35 miles east of Missoula; budget and legislative priorities and the rule on angling restrictions and fishing closures due to drought.
